The FINS IO server is designed to provide simultaneous access to Omron equipment through its serial and Ethernet interface. The protocol selection will depend on the topic the tag belongs to. The UDP and TCP protocols can be mixed as well on the Ethernet interface.
The Flexy acts as:
- a FINS Hostlink client (master) to give access to data from the Omron CSCJ series which are reachable using the serial port(s) of the Flexy.
- a FINS TCP/UDP client (master) to give access to data from the Omron CSCJ series which are reachable using the Ethernet interface of the Flexy.
- a FINS TCP/UDP server playing the role of a gateway between the Ethernet/PPP interface and the serial interface. This is used to remotely connect programming/monitoring software to Omron FINS equipment dedicated to supporting and reachable using the serial ports of the Flexy.
The FINS IO server serial settings can be configured in 3 modes:
- Full Duplex mode without HW handshaking (the Flexy serial link must be configured in RS232 mode),
- Full Duplex mode with HW handshaking,
- Half Duplex slave mode (the Flexy serial link must be configured in RS485 mode).
The remote maintenance functionality is available regardless the protocol used.
